The teams at Toronto Animal Health Partners and VetStrategy are very pleased to announce that we are building a new 25,000 sq. ft. specialty and emergency animal hospital in Mississauga, which is anticipated to open for surgery, neurology, internal medicine, oncology, critical care, and emergency services in March 2023. The Lakeshore Animal Health Partners Emergency and Specialty Hospital (“Lakeshore AHP”) is our second location and will represent the next step in our vision of providing pets with access to the same quality of medicine as their owners.
The dream of Animal Health Partners started in November 2014. During a meeting between AHP founder Scott Woodrow and Dr. David Jaffray of University Health Network (then Executive Vice President of Technology and Innovation), Dr. Jaffray – one of the world’s leading minds in the use of image guidance, radiation medicine, and imaging technologies – brought forward the concept of comparative medicine, the use of spontaneous disease models in companion animals as a basis of study and understanding of disease in both humans and animals. After much brainstorming and assembling a group of like-minded veterinary professionals, Toronto Animal Health Partners was born.
Toronto Animal Health Partners opened its doors on February 19, 2019, bringing the industry’s highest imaging acuity with its 3T Siemens Skyra MRI and the 7D Surgical Machine Vision neurosurgery platform. These technologies (among others) – combined with our collaborative relationship with the University Health Network and our sponsorship of the Chair in Veterinary Medical Innovation at the Ontario Veterinary College – established the opportunity to make real and significant advances in outcomes for veterinary patients.
Since then, Toronto AHP has been providing referral services to pets from the province of Ontario and beyond, providing quality, innovative medicine with our core values of compassion, service, and partnership in mind.
Lakeshore AHP will borrow best practices from its sister site and operate on a larger footprint with an optimized workflow design. It will expand on the use of “smart systems”, leveraging data and artificial intelligence to assist clinicians, technicians, and all staff in their point-of-care knowledge and efficiency, developing high-quality data and insights for their current and future patients.
We look forward to telling you more about the facility as we work toward our launch on March 6, 2022.
