Dr. Jacqui Scott

BVSC, DVSC, DACVS (SA)

Location: Lakeshore Animal Health Partners in Mississauga, ON

Availability: Available for soft tissue surgery referrals and emergency soft tissue surgery transfers

Board Certification: Diplomate, ACVS (SA)

Originally from New Zealand, Dr. Scott began her career in general practice before deciding to specialize further. She focuses on minimally invasive soft tissue surgery, such as laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures, which are known for having lower morbidity and faster recovery times compared to open techniques. In human surgery, these methods are considered the gold standard. 

Dr. Scott has been mentored by Dr. Ameet Singh, a founding member of the Veterinary Endoscopy Society. At the OVC, she gained experience with advanced laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures and contributed to several studies, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy and thoracoscopic lung lobectomy. 

She spent two years as a soft tissue surgeon at the University of Illinois before returning to Ontario. 

Outside of work, Dr. Scott enjoys gardening and spending time with her family and pets.

• Bachelor of Veterinary Science from Massey University (2009) 
• Surgical internship at the Brisbane Veterinary Specialist Center in Australia 
• Rotating internship at Mississippi State University (2014) 
• Surgery internship at an ER hospital in Ottawa 
• Small Animal Surgery Residency, Ontario Veterinary College (2015-2019)
